“Empowering Careers: Exploring Strategies for SCE Society Support” Start your Friday off with a breakfast event. The SCE Society is committed to supporting the professional growth and success of its members. Through open dialogue and collaboration, we aim to identify key areas where the SCE Society can make a tangible difference to enhance the careers of all our members. Insights gathered from focus groups will inform the development of initiatives that cater to the diverse needs and aspirations within our community. Join us in shaping the future of career support within the SCE Society. Together, we can empower each other as we navigate our professional journeys.
In addition, please plan to join one of the pre-conference workshops on June 20 (login to Oxford Abstracts to add either workshop):
“Dynamic Programming with Google JAX,” presented by John Stachurski
In this workshop we will discuss how to write fully vectorized, compiled and parallelized code for standard dynamic programming problems by exploiting the parallelization and accelerated linear algebra capabilities of Google JAX. Parallelization will target both CPUs and GPUs. Applications will range from elementary household and job search problems to dynamic macroeconomic models with heterogeneous agents.
“Genetic Algorithms: Introduction and Applications,” presented by Tomasz Makarewicz
This workshop will serve as a thorough introduction into the GAs. Starting by explaining the algorithm itself and discuss an example of its implementation in C++. The second half will focus on three example applications: as an optimization tool in Fricke and Lux (2014), as decision learning model in a game-theoretical setup in Arifovic, Boitnott and Duffy (2019), and as a heuristic learning model in Anufriev, Hommes and Makarewicz (2019).
Abstract submissions are CLOSED. Joint-authored papers should have been submitted by the author who will present the paper, with a maximum of one paper per presenter. Decision notices will be sent by April 21 to submitting authors.
KEY DATES: Submissions are CLOSED. Decisions will be sent by April 22. Presenter registration deadline is May 1, 2024. Sessions will be formed in May and program will be announced in late May.
